HCP Associates Completes Second Iteration of Commercial Recycling Study for Pinellas County Department of Solid Waste
TAMPA, Fla. (September 14, 2021)— Pinellas County Department of Solid Waste (DSW), which manages the county’s landfill, Waste-to-Energy facility, and recycling programs, engaged HCP Associates to conduct a telephonic residential survey for recycling awareness and practices.
The Commercial Recycling Study results provide insight to DSW on businesses in Pinellas County’s waste and recycling habits as well as familiarity with resources.
A total of 448 Pinellas County businesses located throughout the county, were asked questions about whether their business recycles or not and the reasoning behind each, the challenges they face in doing so and disposing of materials, who is responsible for recycling, brand awareness of county recycling resources, and more.
The survey occurred during COVID-19, so additional analysis occurred to determine if waste generation was impacted by the pandemic and if certain industries were impacted more than others.
This research provides the Pinellas County Department of Solid Waste metrics to use in long-term planning for their organization, as well as benchmarking brand awareness with new tools they have implemented.
